We accept original stories suitable for kids 3-8, preferably with imaginative, action packed, character based plots. We like read-aloud stories, easy-to-read, humorous and serious ones, fairy tales, realistic or fantasy texts from child’s or character's perspective. Also we seek rhytmic, active, serious, humorous or nonsense poems. We also look for originally re-told folk and fairy tales from different continents or cultures.

We appreciate seasonal stories (stories set in summer, fall, winter, spring), and with a back to school, Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter themes. Also stories with an ecology, family, tolerance, diversity and minority themes are of a great interest to us.
Please limit your texts to 300-800 words and poems up to 30 lines. Send max 2 submissions at a time and do not send them via mail printed on paper. Let’s save some resources together.

We license electronic and audio rights only. Payment is upon publication and the rates are 25cpw for prose and 40cpw for poems.
We read your submissions on Kindles so please attach your stories to the cover email as separate attachments. Also, include a short synopsis of your piece in the cover email in two, three sentences. Then email to this address: submissions at okenko dot com.
For art samples, never send originals. Send photocopies of your art or digital pictures with children related content.
For commissioned artwork, we purchase all rights. Physical art remains the property of the illustrator and he/she can use it for self promotion.
